About this index
EveryModel is an independent index of appliances on the Australian market, compiled from the Australian Government's GEMS registration database, the register of every model legally offered for sale, with its capacity, energy rating, annual energy consumption, dimensions and test-cycle times. The index covers washing machines (254 current models), clothes dryers (188), dishwashers (247), fridges and freezers (668) and televisions (1,962), each with the rest of the register alongside it (registry export of 24 Oct 2026).
Method
Registry data is joined to retail prices collected from retailer and manufacturer sites, most recently 28 Oct 2026. Where the registry does not record a dimension, spin speed, noise level, water-star rating, panel type, refresh rate or warranty term, the figure is taken from the retailer's published specification sheet and marked as such. Where both sources list a figure, the registry's is used; where two retailers disagree, the figure is omitted. TV series and panel tiers are additionally identified from the model number, in the way ranges are marketed (an OLED42C5 is a C series OLED); the mapping is reviewed against each year's lineups. Every price and specification-sheet figure carries the date it was collected.
Prices are matched to registry records by model number, with exact or single-suffix matches only. The register records one row per application, so the same brand and model number can appear more than once; pages for those models name the other registrations and link them.
How often it updates
Prices, availability and specification-sheet figures are re-collected every morning at 06:00 Australian Eastern time, and the site rebuilds from the result, so the date beside a price is the date it was read. The register exports are re-imported from data.gov.au periodically, which is when models enter and leave the lists; the export date in use is in the footer of every page. Every price change the daily run records is kept and published in each category's price log.
Corrections
Figures that came from the register are reproduced as the register holds them, except where a value is physically impossible for the product (a width and height transposed, a screen size that disagrees with the size in the model number); those are corrected, and the correction applies everywhere the figure appears. To report a figure that looks wrong, quote the registration number and write to the address on the contact page. Corrections are made against the source, so a registry error is reported to the registry as well as carried here. EveryModel is published by its editorial team; there are no individual bylines and no sponsored placements.
